Vid Blakeney – Development
Vid and Jill Blakeney started Tumblehome & Prussik in a small café in Kathmandu whilst planning a river trip on the Ganges.
Vid’s background includes completing a contract with the Spanish Foreign Legion, three years as a full time fire-fighter, an apprenticeship in welding and several years in the construction and engineering industries.
He has spent 12 years working in outdoor pursuits. He is a qualified canoe coach, climbing instructor and mountain leader. He has instructed on many high ropes courses and has been involved in training hundreds of staff in their use. He has also worked as a resources manager for several of the major UK outdoor provider,s buying ropes courses from many of the other UK suppliers. For the last eight years he has been the Development Manager for Rope Course Construction which has involved him in the construction of dozens of Ropes Courses and Adventure Constructions and he has inspected hundreds of installations.
He holds CPCS operator cards for all of the major plant types, holds an IOSH award, is an ERCA Type C inspector, qualified PPE inspector and holds a CISRS scaffold inspectors ticket.
Jill Blakeney – Head Office
Shortly after qualifying as a Renal Nurse, Jill took a summer break working at an outdoor centre in France running the office and taking care of first aid. The next year she was appointed as Centre Manager which was the start of a busy career in outdoor pursuits.
Over the last ten years she has travelled all over the world leading expeditions, working as an medic on river expeditions and high altitude projects. Along the way she has attended Tropical medicine courses and is a qualified L3 canoe coach and Mountain Leader.
She is in charge of the Head Office team whilst looking after her three young sons.
Zoe Herrington – Contracts
Zoe qualified as a Solicitor and worked for 15 years in the public sector – mainly working with council legal departments. Along the way she has helped run Outdoor Centres and undertaken various paddling expeditions. She has travelled all over the world and speaks fluent French. Currently taking a break from Law she overviews all of our paperwork with a particular eye for detail with our contracts.
James Blackledge Snr – Marketing
Former business journalist, James has spent the last 40 years marketing everything from cryogenics for missile guidance systems to foundry sand conveyors, PCs and online gaming sites. Now semi-retired, he is working alongside the T&P team to build awareness and streamline the group’s marketing activities.
Steve Warnock – Civil Engineer
Steve Warnock, from the Guilford Offices of URS, does all the loading calculations for critical timber and steelwork, ensuring that they conform to industry and safety standards – that is when he is not paddling high grade rivers in the Himalaya!
Jim Curran – Construction Health and Safety Advisor
Curran Webb Ltd is our health and safety advisers. The company helps us to comply with the ever increasing demands of health and safety legislation, particularly in the construction sector.This includes CDM co-ordination services as well as acting as our H&S advisor. The company is on the APS Register of CDM Co-ordinators, an accreditation recognised in the CDM 2007 ACoP as an example of competence. Curran Webb works with a number of blue chip companies including L’Oreal, M&S, Tesco, Co-op, Poundland, Kuehne & Nagel, GeoPost, Recall and the Daily Mail.
